‘Die Hard’ Refuses to Die

“Die Hard”--high adventure in a Century City high-rise with Bruce Willis --is one of most popular rentals in the last few years. It’s been No. 1 for six of its seven weeks on the Billboard chart--trouncing a host of potent contenders by a wide margin. Probably only “ ‘Crocodile’ Dundee II”--too new to make the charts this week--has the clout to dislodge it. The documentary “Imagine: John Lennon,” debuting at No. 25, earned only $3.2 million in its theatrical run but may do decent home-video business because of all those older renters who still have fond memories of the Fab Four.
* The first “Iron Eagle” did OK at the box office but very well on home video. The sequel, also starring Louis Gossett Jr., grossed a respectable $10.5 million at the box office and shapes up as a rental hit too. “II” debuted at No. 18.
