Richard E. Lyons; Producer of TV, Western Films

Richard E. Lyons, 67, producer of many Western films and several movies of the week for television. Lyons began as an office boy for Metro Goldwyn Mayer and then attended Dartmouth College before Navy service during World War II. He worked in the MGM record division after the war before coming to Hollywood, where he was a story editor before moving to production. His film credits include “Ride the High Country,” “Mail Order Bride,” “The Plainsman,” “Winchester 73,” “Coogan”s Bluff” and “Dirty Dingus Magee.” On television, his pictures were “The Jericho Mile,” “The Daughters of Joshua Cabe,” “Shootout in a One Dog Town,” “Welcome to Xanadu” and several more. In a San Fernando hospital on Saturday prior to heart surgery.
