West Hollywood : Parking Shortage Studied

The City Council will work with the Chamber of Commerce and residents to devise a comprehensive plan to ease West Hollywood’s acute parking shortage.

Councilman Paul Koretz, who has been working on proposals to deal with the problem, said parking is the city’s most serious unresolved problem.

A 13-member group, including residents and representatives of city staff and businesses, will be formed in the next two weeks to study possible solutions and make recommendations to the City Council.

Koretz and city staff have suggested a number of measures to create more parking spaces. Some of these include painting parking stripes on residential streets, instituting a shuttle system between parking lots and businesses, building parking structures and promoting public transportation.
