Prep Roundup : Sunny Hills Prevails, 15-6, Over Basic at Baseball Tournament in Las Vegas

Sunny Hills High School pounded out 15 hits in defeating Las Vegas Basic, 15-6, Thursday in the first round of the Las Vegas Chaparral tournament at Chaparral High School.
Brian Veronda went five for five and Jeff White was three for five for the Lancers.
Brent Smith (2-0) went the distance, striking out five, for the victory. He also had two hits.
Sunny Hills plays Las Vegas Bonanza at 10 today and Las Vegas El Camino at 7 tonight.
In nonleague play:
Katella 8, Magnolia 2--Jess Evans had a triple, single and three runs batted in for Katella (5-4) at Boysen Park. Jim Rosas (2-1) allowed three hits in four innings for the victory.
