Canseco May Miss Month With Injury

YUMA, Ariz. — Final test results are not in, but Jose Canseco could miss as much as the first month of the season because of an undiagnosed problem with his left wrist, according to Oakland Athletics officials Saturday.
The A’s right fielder has been bothered since the beginning of spring training by a problem in his wrist. General Manager Sandy Alderson said Canseco will be out for several weeks, based on the latest battery of tests.
“Right now, a good guess is three to five weeks, subject to an arthrogram,” Alderson said.
“It looks like ligament inflammation or something of that sort,” he added, after conferring with team orthopedist Rick Bost, who examined the wrist at Children’s Hospital in San Francisco.
Results of an arthrogram dye test to check for cartilage or ligament damage should be known Monday.
