NAMES IN THE NEWS : Jessica Hahn’s Former Boss Jailed

ALBANY, N.Y. — Eugene Profeta, the minister Jessica Hahn turned to for solace after her sexual encounter with television evangelist Jim Bakker, got a six-month jail sentence today in a tax evasion case she helped put together.
Hahn was Profeta’s one-time church secretary whose sexual encounter with Bakker toppled his PTL ministry. She helped state investigators put together the case against her former boss after being promised immunity from prosecution. She said she also had an affair with Profeta.
Profeta admitted in his plea bargain that he tried to get Hahn to lie to the grand jury about his financial dealings and that he filed a false 1986 income tax return.
