World : Israel Puts Gaza Strip Under Curfew

JERUSALEM — The army today sealed off the occupied lands for 24 hours and put the entire Gaza Strip under a curfew as troops and police braced for violence on the annual “Land Day” protest by Arabs.
Arabs on Thursday will mark Land Day, commemorating a confrontation in their villages in Israel’s Galilee on March 30, 1976, when six people were killed after the army and police opened fire on demonstrators protesting government seizure of Arab land.
