The 100th anniversary of the birth of Charles Chaplin on April 16 is bringing forth a variety of tributes. The Museum of Modern Art in New York is honoring Chaplin (1889-1977) with a gallery exhibition, “Chaplin: A Centennial Celebration,” through June 30, along with a retrospective of his films from April 14-27 and publication of an illustrated book, “Charles Chaplin: An Appreciation,” by Charles Silver, supervisor of the museum’s Film Study Center. Locally, KCET Channel 28 on April 15 will reprise “Unknown Chaplin,” the acclaimed three-part “American Masters” documentary on the film pioneer. The station will air the three segments back to back, from 9 p.m. to midnight.
