Jerry Lewis’ annual Muscular Dystrophy telethon will have a new home when it airs on Labor Day weekend. Instead of Caesars Palace, where it has been for the last seven years, the telethon will originate from the Cashman Field Center, an entertainment complex near downtown Las Vegas. Lewis says the telethon has outgrown the Caesars Palace sports pavilion and moving to to the larger 2,000-seat facility would allow “some production things we haven’t had space to do.” Caesars Palace president Dan Reichartz says he’s sorry to see the telethon go because the hotel-resort’s 4,000 employees have formed a close relationship with Lewis. However, Caesars Palace will continue to be the host hotel. Last year’s telethon raised a record $41,132,113 and was carried by 200 stations.
