Community College Roundup : Kaufman Pitches No-Hitter for Golden West

Freshman Lisa Kaufman pitched a no-hitter for Golden West College Wednesday in a 2-0 victory over Riverside in an Orange Empire Conference softball game at Golden West.
Kaufman, a freshman from Marina High School, walked two and struck out five.
Golden West (14-9, 4-3) took the lead in the first inning when Toni Barrette’s double scored Chris DeMarzine, who had singled and went to second on a sacrifice. DeMarzine had three hits, scored a run and stole two bases. In the sixth, Gretchen Bock reached second on an error, went to third a sacrifice, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lorna Payne.
In other Orange Empire Conference softball games:
Saddleback 2, Fullerton 1--Saddleback’s Kim Braatz opened the fourth with a single, moved to second on an error and scored on a single by Marsha Garcia. Garcia went to second on a sacrifice and scored on a single by Kelly Mezo. Denise Kuhns (11-5) got the victory for Saddleback (17-6, 5-2). Kristin Jacobs (17-7) took the loss for Fullerton (19-10-1, 5-1).
Rancho Santiago 3, Orange Coast 2--Heather Illsley doubled to open the seventh and scored on a error as host Rancho Santiago broke a 2-2 tie. Heather Dearden had a two-run single for Rancho Santiago (18-10, 4-2) in the second inning.
