Zola Budd would have to pledge to “live the life of a normal British athlete,” before being allowed to run again in international competition, the British Amateur Athletics Board ruled. Budd earlier contacted the board about a possible comeback.

“We did ask for clarification of Zola’s position,” board spokesman Tony Ward said. “We are requesting her to come to Great Britain and live as a British citizen, rather than this zooming back and forth. We also want to know how her marriage might affect this.”

Budd will marry Mike Pietersee, a South African businessman, on April 15.
