A suspect in the shooting death of an off-duty Los Angeles County marshal who was working as a security guard was arrested Thursday evening in Boston, officials said.
Kien Vinh Ly, 23, of Oakland, was arrested without incident at a grocery store in Boston’s Chinatown, authorities said. Ly is wanted in connection with the murder of Henry Wong, 40, who was gunned down Sept. 2 while working at a restaurant in Alhambra.
Wong had ordered an unidentified Asian man out of the Savoy Restaurant at 301 E. Valley Blvd. after the man created a disturbance and threatened patrons, investigators said.
As the restaurant was closing just before 2 a.m., the same man allegedly returned, pulled open the front door and began firing, authorities said.
Wong, the first deputy county marshal to be shot to death either on or off duty in the department’s 30-year history, was struck in the head.
