Right-wing ministers in Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir’s Cabinet warned him not to give in to U.S. demands in talks in Washington this week. Shamir, beset by a 15-month-old Palestinian uprising against Israeli rule in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, leaves Tuesday on his first U.S. visit since new governments took office in both countries. The right-wing ministers think U.S. leaders will press Shamir to talk to the Palestine Liberation Organization and drop his opposition to an international Mideast peace conference.
