IN BRIEF : Florida State Coach Won’t Move

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Pat Kennedy, Florida State University basketball coach, decided today that he enjoys one of the best coaching situations in the country and turned aside a weeklong courtship from the University of Tennessee
“We’re on the verge of a lot of greatness here,” said Kennedy, who agreed to a new five-year roll-over contract with Florida State that will let the 37-year-old coach earn more than $250,000 annually. “The thing I like about Florida State right now is we’re starting to blossom.”
Kennedy’s new pact calls for a base salary of $90,000 in addition to revenue from television and radio shows and summer basketball camps.
Kennedy met with officials from the University of Tennessee last week to discuss their head coaching opening, created by the resignation last month of Don DeVoe.
