Sikhs Kill 9 in Punjab

AMRITSAR, India — Sikh extremists killed nine people Thursday in northern Punjab, including a Sikh priest dragged from his temple and hanged from a tree, police said. Police blamed the slayings on two Sikh militant groups, both hard-line advocates of an independent Sikh nation they hope to create in the affluent agricultural state.
