A mild aftershock of an earthquake that hit the south San Francisco Bay Area last week rattled windows but caused no reported damage or injury. The aftershock was centered seven miles east of Milpitas on the Calaveras Fault and registered a magnitude of 3.4, an official at the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park said. Pat Jorgenson of the USGS said the epicenter of the aftershock was almost exactly the same as the initial 4.9 temblor, which caused minor damage.
