WASHINGTON — President Bush grabbed four youngsters from the White House tour line today and took them to the South Lawn to show off his six new puppies.
“Aren’t they cute?” Bush asked as the children petted the English springer spaniel pups, sprawled out in a wire cage on the lawn. The pups’ mother, Millie, wagged her tail.
The President said that there has been a “big demand” for the pups but that all were spoken for.
Bush stopped in the tour line in the East Wing of the White House as he returned from a speech at a downtown hotel. He explained to the children that he wanted them to go back to the tour line and report on the puppies.
