A former employee of the Balboa Park Inn set fire to the inn’s kitchen and dining room area Sunday morning and vandalized the premises, causing $30,000 in damage, police said Sunday.
Charles Spink, 34, was charged with arson and vandalism after he was arrested on the scene, according to Sgt. Nate Caplan of the San Diego Police Department. Spink had been fired from his job at the inn two months ago, Kaplan said.
There were no people in the area where Spink allegedly set the fire and no one was injured, police said.
