NATION : Bush Blends Jogging, ‘Swimming’
WASHINGTON — President Bush went jogging today in a light rain that turned into a downpour. He kept on running, exclaiming, “We’re going swimming!”
Accompanied by Republican Party chief Lee Atwater and a small entourage, Bush jogged for 28 minutes around Hains Point in East Potomac Park. A police boat followed along in the choppy river waters.
There was a light drizzle when Bush started, and it turned into a heavy rain. By the time Bush stopped, the rain had tapered off again.
Returning to the White House in his limousine with soaked shoes and socks, Bush took his running mates to the pool house for dry clothes. Then he headed for the sauna.
