Former President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, will visit Queen Elizabeth II and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in London next month, a Reagan spokeswoman said today.
“We have many fine memories of our visits to London and are very happy to have an opportunity to be in the company of friends there soon,” Reagan said in a statement.
This will be the Reagans’ first visit to Europe since they left the White House Jan. 20 and moved to Los Angeles.
Reagan, 78, accepted an invitation by the English Speaking Union to deliver its Churchill Lecture at the Guildhall in London in mid-June, the spokeswoman said.
The Reagans will have lunch with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace and dinner with Margaret and Denis Thatcher at the prime minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street.
“There has always been a very special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, and I am deeply honored to be asked to deliver the Churchill Lecture,” Reagan said.
