IN BRIEF : Van Nuys Bowler 2nd in Tournament

WASHINGTON — Lisa Wagner of Palmetto, Fla., won seven of her eight matches and tied the other to take a 107-pin lead over Robin Romeo of Van Nuys at the end of the fifth round of the $35,000 ladies Pro Bowlers Tour Fair Lanes Capitol Classic today.
Wagner, the defending Capitol Classic champion, posted a 13-2-1 record for her first 16 matches and averaged 217 to finish with a 34-game total of 7,804 pins. The 1988 Woman Bowler of the Year is trying for her 23rd career title and second of 1989.
Romeo, the tour’s only two-time champion in 1989, had 7,697 pins.
Donna Adamek of Victorville, Calif., advanced from seventh to third at 7,655.
