Youths Chase, Beat, Kill Tujunga Man, 18

An 18-year-old Tujunga man was shot to death in Sun Valley after being chased and beaten by as many as a dozen youths, Los Angeles police said Saturday.
The victim, Thomas Francis Langton, was attending a party on Cartwright Avenue when he was attacked by eight to 12 youths between 14 and 19 years old late Friday, police said.
Langton fled but was caught half a block away at Cartwright Avenue and Cohasset Street, where the attackers beat and kicked him, and one shot him several times in the upper torso, Officer Larry Heck said.
Paramedics and police arrived just before midnight to find Langton sprawled across a sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Heck said the suspects fled on foot. The assailants had crashed the party and were not known to others there, he said.
