A 24-year-old man was shot to death Sunday and his companion was wounded when occupants of a passing car opened fire on a group of people standing in an alley in East San Diego, police said.
Cesar Dominguez of the 4400 block of G Street was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before midnight, police spokesman Dave Cohen said. Dominguez’s body was found in the alley west of Escuela Street and Hilltop Drive, Cohen said.
Police also found German Lara, 32, of the 300 block of 35th Street wounded nearby. Lara had been shot once in the arm, Cohen said.
Witnesses told police that shots were fired from a car that drove by the group about 11:45 p.m., Cohen said.
