BEIJING — An American who suffered a fractured skull when he was attacked on a cruise down the Yangtze River a month ago has recovered and has been discharged from a hospital, a newspaper reported Monday.
Derron Craft, 23, of Bozeman, Mont., left a hospital in Wuhan, on Saturday and was accompanied by his father and a U.S. Embassy official on a flight to Beijing, the China Daily said.
Craft, who began studying at the Beijing Languages Institute in September, plans to return to the United States today, the embassy said.
Craft was attacked in his sleep before dawn on April 8. The identity of the assailant was unknown.
