SPACE CENTER, Houston — The astronauts who rode the space shuttle Atlantis on a four-day mission returned to work today to begin reviewing their flight, highlighted by the deployment of a planetary probe to Venus.
The mission ended Monday when the 97-ton shuttle dropped out of orbit and glided to an afternoon landing at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Atlantis remained at Edwards, and initial inspections showed little damage to the thermal tiles that protect it from the heat of re-entry.
