RETAILING : In-N-Out Burger Raises Minimum Hourly Starting Pay from $4.75 to $6

In-N-Out Burger--which has eight Orange County restaurants--has hiked its starting salary from $4.75 to $6 per hour, the company announced this week.
The decision means a salary increase for more than 75% of In-N-Out’s 1,500 employees, according to the fast-food company.

Due to a reporting error in an article on May 10, The Times incorrectly stated the minimum wage in California. The state’s minimum wage currently is $4.25 an hour.
California’s minimum wage is $4.75.
Rich Snyder, In-N-Out’s president, said the increase is intended to encourage workers to stay with the chain and “to attract good, quality people” to the company.
The pay raise could be particularly helpful in Orange County, where retailers face fierce competition for minimum-wage workers.
In-N-Out Burger’s Orange County stores are in Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Garden Grove, La Habra, Laguna Niguel, Placentia and Santa Ana.
The company is headquartered in Baldwin Park.
