Crimson Slew Surprises in Hollypark Feature

Crimson Slew, at 13-1, closed with a rush to win the $45,000 feature race by a length over Neshad Wednesday before a crowd of 15,736 at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, Crimson Slew covered one mile on the turf course in 1:34 3/5 and paid $28.40, $10.40 and $4.40. The victory, first in five starts on the turf for the 5-year-old son of Seattle Slew, was worth $24,750.
Neshad, ridden by Pat Valenzuela, returned $4.60 and $2.60, while Purdue King, the 3-2 favorite ridden by Gary Stevens, paid $2.80.
