JERSEYVILLE, Ill. — A woman who claimed that her two infant daughters were abducted by masked gunmen in similar circumstances three years apart was charged today with concealing a homicide and obstruction of justice in the death of the first child.
The charges against Paula Sims, 29, were filed 13 days after she reported that her second daughter, 6-week-old Heather Lee, had been abducted by a masked gunman. Heather was found dead May 3.
State’s Atty. Richard Ringhausen signed a criminal complaint alleging one count of concealing a homicide and three counts of obstructing justice in the 1986 death of 13-day-old Loralei Sims. An arrest warrant was issued, and Sims was expected to surrender today.
