NATION : 1 California Climber Found Dead, Another Missing on Mt. Rainier

MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, Wash. — Park rangers searched near the summit of Mt. Rainier today for a missing young California climber whose partner was found dead at 13,700 feet.
Two climbers from among the party of four, all Californians, came across the body near the summit Thursday, officials said. Unable to find his partner, they contacted rangers, and a Chinook helicopter from Ft. Lewis took several rangers to the summit for a search.
Names of the climbers and hometowns were not released because authorities were having difficulty contacting their relatives.
