Prep Baseball : Mater Dei Has to Rally to Overcome Servite

Mater Dei High School rallied for two runs in the seventh inning, then held on to defeat Servite, 5-4, in an Angelus League baseball game Friday at Servite.
Juan Zarate and Jason Gill walked in the seventh for Mater Dei, then Rob Ickes doubled to tie the score, 4-4. After another walk loaded the bases, Jason Kirrer hit a sacrifice fly.
Servite put two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, but Mater Dei pitcher Tony Pena (10-1) struck out the last two batters en route to striking out the side.
Servite (10-12-1, 4-8) had a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning when Mater Dei’s Vic Boyd hit a two-run home run to tie the score. League champion Mater Dei ends the regular season 20-5, 10-2.
