Brown Sets SDSU Strikeout Record

San Diego State pitcher Rob Brown established a school single-season strikeout record in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday when he recorded his 116th strikeout of the year in a 9-3 Western Athletic Conference loss to Hawaii.
Brown picked up No. 116, his sixth strikeout of the game, in the fourth inning when he got Jon Viela for the second out. Brown was lifted after the fourth.
Brown, a senior right-hander, eclipsed the mark set by Bob Cluck in 1966.
The Aztecs (34-23, 15-9 in the WAC) came back to win the second game, 4-3, on an eighth-inning RBI single from Lance Pinnell.
