The Baltimore Orioles released pitcher Ken Dixon from his double-A contract, saying he had failed to comply with the team’s minor league drug prevention and testing program. Dixon pitched for the Orioles from 1984 to 1987. This season he was with the Hagerstown Suns.
Dixon will be offered professional counseling through a players’ assistance program but otherwise his relationship with the team has ended, a club spokesman said.
