Local : School Talks Resume on Rosy Note

Amid new-found optimism, talks aimed at settling the Los Angeles Unified School District teachers strike were scheduled to resume late today at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. The main stumbling block appears to be on the issue of returning pay docked from teachers for various job actions.
“It’s our hope that maybe we can get movement today and settle this thing,” said Wayne Johnson, president of United Teachers-Los Angeles. “I don’t think we are that far apart.”
