IN BRIEF : Tantrum Costs Dibble 2 More Days

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds reliever Rob Dibble, already sitting out two days for a bat-tossing tantrum, was given an additional two days today by National League President Bill White.

White gave Dibble a three-day suspension but with one day to run concurrent with the two-day term the Reds had imposed on Dibble.

Dibble, who flung the bat into the protective screen behind home plate after surrendering a run-scoring single to Terry Pendleton of St. Louis on Tuesday night, will be eligible to return Sunday. The suspension will cost Dibble $1,888 in salary. Dibble was also fined an undisclosed amount for the bat-throwing, White said.
