Topanga : 40 Acres Added to Preserve
The Mountains Restoration Trust announced that it has made a fifth addition to the Cold Creek Canyon Preserve with the purchase of 40 acres in Topanga for $50,000.
The addition increases the preserve to more than a square mile in size and protects the area from development, said Betty Wiechec, the trust’s executive director.
The preserve, which is owned and operated by the trust, is open to the public at no charge on a reservation basis.
The 40-acre parcel is next to the state-owned Backbone Trail, which, when completed, will extend 54 miles from Griffith Park to the ocean through the Santa Monica Mountains.
