NATION : Mother Threw Girl to Death--Police

NEW YORK — A mother angry that an air conditioner fell out of her fifth-story window threw her 2-year-old daughter out after it, killing the girl, police said today.
Jessica Sanchez told police that her daughter Rachel tumbled out accidentally after the air conditioner fell Wednesday. But detectives did not believe her, and she was charged Thursday with murder.
Sanchez, 29, and her husband, Thomas, 33, were also charged with endangering the welfare of the child because two other children, ages 1 and 3, showed signs of abuse, police said. A neighbor told reporters that the mother had recently thrown a puppy and two kittens out a window to punish the children.
