A team of student journalists from Beverly Hills High School has won the championship in the All Southern California “On-the-Spot Write-off,” a scholastic writing competition.
Winners included Matt Albert, Sally Schultheiss, Abram Himelstein, Karen Alexander, Juli Kang and Danielle Mandelbaum. They competed with 500 students from 68 schools from San Diego to Ventura.
The students watched a live story presentation and had one hour to write their stories, which were judged by professional journalists.
