Art Museum Fills Vacancy

Lucinda A. Barnes has been named associate curator at the Newport Harbor Art Museum, replacing Anne Ayres who left the museum last year to become director of the art gallery at the Otis Art Institute of the Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles.
Barnes has been curator of exhibitions at the Cal State Long Beach University Art Museum since 1985. Her previous positions include director of the Karl Bornstein Gallery in Santa Monica, and research assistant in the 20th-Century Art Department of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Barnes, who is completing her doctorate at the University of Southern California, holds a bachelor of arts degree from New York University and a master of arts in art history from Williams College. She has taught art history at Cal State Fullerton, Saddleback College, UC Irvine Extension and UCLA Extension. She assumes her new post Oct 1.
