Implementing Car Insurance Reforms
You think the insurance companies don’t hold all the cards? I’ve got news for you!
I just heard from my car insurance folks that my 24-year-old son has an unacceptable citation on his record (excessive speed). He has his own car and insurance with a different company, but because he still lives at home and they count driving records by households rather than individuals, they will not renew my policy when it expires!
No matter that I have a spotless driving record, while he’s living at home, no insurance for me with this company. My agent tells me I have two choices--kick him out (he’s a fine young man with no other problems) or get my insurance with a non-preferred company and pay double my current rate!
Nice choice. Count me as a new member of the anti-insurance company brigade!
