DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — An Iran-bound ship believed to be carrying a chemical used to make deadly mustard gas docked here Saturday, sources said. West German television said it would be stopped before reaching Iran.
Iran’s Tehran Radio on Saturday denied that the shipment, which is at the center of a chemical weapons scandal in West Germany, is bound for Iran.
The West German-flagged Seacrest Pioneer docked in Dubai after leaving Bombay, India, Dubai-based shipping sources said. They said the ship was due to leave late Saturday to return to Bombay, but they had no word on the ship’s cargo or whether any part of it was unloaded.
