SEOUL — An American Army helicopter crashed Thursday night about eight miles east of Seoul, killing one U.S. soldier and injuring two others, U.S. military officials said today.
The UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter was on a routine night training mission when it crashed, the military said in a statement. It said the cause was under investigation.
The South Korean newspaper Hankook Ilbo, quoting witnesses, said the aircraft went down when its blades hit a high-voltage power line.
The names of the dead and injured are expected to be released later in the day after their families have been notified, a military spokesman said.
