Can it really be that Pete Townshend was the only person in the world to say “hope I die before I get old”? I was there, too; it’s just one of those conceits of youth.
This summer, I will turn 30, just a kid to the “Graybeards,” but ancient to the children and teen-agers in my neighborhood. I missed the great bands of the ‘60s and the ‘70s when their beards were black and their hair was full. Thank God I am getting a second chance to see them.
And what if these groups are putting a dent in the concert plans of new groups? This is called Survival of the Fittest and it is the proving ground.
Clapton is still God, and I’ll be at the altar.
