Aging Rockers

At 36, I still get as revved up by great riffs from the Replacements as I did with the Clashes, the Mott the Hooples, The Kinks of years past. I do carry an allegiance to top-flight bands like the Who; quality usually does withstand the tests of time.
But I think the perception that few of the newer bands will ever be held in Rolling Stones-like reverence impedes people’s desires to even sample them. That’s a shame, but at least I can pick any night to see one of dozens of bands worthy of attention, and I don’t have to battle the hordes of arena-rock fans to do it.
