Unbeaten Nashwan won the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, England, becoming the first horse since Blue Peter in 1939 to complete the triple of the 2,000 Guineas, the English Derby and the Eclipse Hamdan Al Maktoum’s colt, ridden by Willie Carson and favored at 2-5, defeated 200-1 outsider Opening Verse by five lengths.
