There will be no elapsed-time record in this year’s Los Angeles-to-Honolulu yacht race.
Light winds in the Molokai Channel have slowed the Class A leaders, and the first boat was not expected to finish before 11:45 p.m., HST, Saturday (2:45 a.m., PDT, Sunday).
At 9 p.m., PDT, Saturday, Honolulu race headquarters reported the following estimated times of arrival: Blondie 2:45 a.m., PDT; Chance, Mongoose and Silver Bullet each 4 a.m., and Taxi Dancer 4:30 a.m.
The first boat would have had to finish by midnight, PDT to set an elapsed-time record.
