1 Dies, 2 Hurt as Pickup Overturns on Freeway

A pickup truck overturned on the Ventura Freeway in Westlake Monday, killing one man and injuring two others, authorities said.

The fatally injured man, whose name was not available, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, in the eastbound lanes of the freeway east of the Westlake Boulevard off-ramp, Ventura County Fire Department spokeswoman Alison Schember said.

Ruben Martinez, 21, was listed in critical condition at Westlake Medical Center, a hospital nursing supervisor said. The other injured man, whose identity was not made public, suffered multiple broken bones and facial cuts and was in serious condition at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, a nursing supervisor at the hospital said.
