PICO RIVERA — This summer’s Theater in the Park, a countywide musical theater workshop for teen-agers, will present “Grease,” a musical story about young love in the 1950s that gained fame as a feature film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.
The theater workshop, made up local high school students, is a two-month summer conservatory at Smith Park. Students pay $100 to enroll in the workshop and attend all-day classes Monday through Friday in preparation for performances Aug. 25 and 26 and Sept. 1 and 2.
Professional actors are taking students through all phases of musical theater production, including movement, dance, acting, voice, scene painting and costume construction techniques.
