Thunderstorms skipped across the central Plains, bringing up to 6 inches of rain to parts of Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, flooding roadways and sending water cascading across lawns to the porches of homes. The National Weather Service said 6 inches of rain brought floodwaters up to the porches of homes at McFarland, Kan.
