Santa Ana fire investigators said Thursday that a $1-million fire last weekend that destroyed a Santa Ana awning firm was deliberately set.
Deputy Chief James Montgomery said investigators have begun a criminal investigation of the fire at Pacific Awnings Corp., 4020 W. Carriage Drive, which was destroyed Sunday.
“I can’t release any of the details of the investigation because it might jeopardize our investigation,” Montgomery said.
The blaze caused $800,000 in damage to the structure and another $250,000 in damage to the building’s contents, officials said.
