STOCKHOLM — Prosecutors filed assault charges today against two Brazilian soccer players accused of beating a Swedish referee unconscious during a match.
Allessandro Arcangeli, 26, and Marcio Thomson, 33, of the Sao Paolo team Botafogo pleaded innocent to beating referee Kaari Grundstrom at a youth soccer cup in Stockholm last Friday.
The district court said proceedings will begin Thursday.
